Your
ultimate Madagascan adventure starts in the fascinating capital Antananarivo.
You will meet our representative who will drive you through as you are staying
in the heart of the charming old town at the intimate guesthouse, Maison
Gallieni.
Its
character is enhanced by the originality of the architecture and flamboyant
décor. The house has been preserved in its colonial style, with high ceilings
and wooden corridors, and each of the 4 rooms has its own individual character
and style.
Antananarivo
is a city of tiered streets built in and on the twelve surrounding sacred
hills, around a long, narrow rocky ridge.
The
summit near the center of the ridge was easy to fortify, as it provided an
excellent vantage point and was surrounded by marshland suitable for rice
cultivation.
Based
on the arrival time, embark on a historical city walking tour, or you can relax
and refresh in the lush green gardens of your guest house on the edge of a
turquoise pool.
Overnight stay at the hotel.

Breakfast
at the camp.
Today
leave the river oasis behind you, get transferred to Taolagnaro.
Enjoy
your lunch before travelling onwards (a fascinating journey) to Manafiafy Beach
and Rainforest Lodge.
A
stunning and secluded luxury lodge set in rich forest vegetation right on the
beautiful beach with crashing waves.
The
lodge has two beaches, and between the two there is a viewpoint from large
granite rocks (perfect for sundowners!) stretching out into the sea.
The
main area is designed very much in the style of an African lodge, all from
natural materials including the ravinala thatch, and using local craftsmen and
chalets are nestled into the forest and overlooking the beach.
The
lodge is very proud of its eco-tourism principles using just solar power for
its electricity and hot water. The food here is superb – freshly caught fish
and shellfish including crab, lobster and oysters are often served, along with
a delicious selection of salads and excellent, freshly baked bread.
Breakfasts
are a treat with warm, fresh pastries and a large selection of fresh fruit –
accompanied by freshly squeezed juice of the season, a real treat!
You
can take a boat trip into the mangroves, where the bird watching is
spectacular. At certain times of the year the humpback whales pass by on their
migration, and the lodge has a special whale-watching boat which is deployed
the moment the whales are sighted.
Snorkeling
and swimming is offered inside the natural bay created by large granite
outcrops stretching into the sea. Guests can also choose to take a night walk
in a local area of forest, to spot the nocturnal lemurs, night moths, night birds
and other Malagasy species.
Spend
four nights here exploring the area and enjoying Madagascar's legendary
hospitality.
